Flexifil – Flexible Filler for Heavily Cracked and Soft Leather

Do you have cracked leather seats that look like a "spider-web"? Flexifil is an innovative product developed specifically to solve this problem. While standard fillers are designed for holes and cuts, Flexifil is engineered to cover large areas of surface cracking where flexibility is critical.

This is a "liquid filler" that remains extremely elastic after drying. It moves in sync with the leather without cracking or peeling, even on the softest and most high-traffic parts of a sofa or car seat.

✨ Why is Flexifil Unique?

  • 🤸 Extreme Elasticity: Designed for areas subject to constant movement and pressure.

  • 🕸️ Ideal for "Spider-webbing": The best solution for restoring a cracked grain layer.

  • 🧴 Excellent Self-Leveling: Applies easily and fills even the finest cracks, creating a smooth base.

  • 🎨 Tintable: Can be mixed with up to 10% Leather Colourant to make subsequent dyeing easier.

  • 🧽 Easy to Sand: Allows you to achieve a perfectly smooth finish with minimal effort.

🏘️ The Ideal Solution For:

  • Heavily cracked front car seats.

  • Soft leather sofas with creases and fine splits.

  • Steering wheels starting to crack from perspiration and sun exposure.

  • Leather Types: Pigmented, Semi-aniline, and Faux leather (Vinyl).

🛠️ How to Use (Professional Protocol):

  1. Cleaning & Preparation: Clean with Leather Ultra Clean and always degrease with Alcohol Cleaner. If the leather is frayed or "fuzzy," apply Leather Binder first.

  2. Application: Use a palette knife to apply a thin layer of Flexifil over the cracked area. Rub it in well to ensure it penetrates the cracks.

  3. Smoothing: Use the knife to remove excess product. The goal is for the filler to remain only in the cracks, not on the healthy leather surface.

  4. Drying: Allow to dry naturally (approx. 15-20 min) or speed up with a hair dryer.

  5. Layering: If cracks are deep, apply a second layer after the first has dried completely.

  6. Sanding: Smooth the treated area with fine sandpaper (1200 grit) to level the surface.

  7. Coloring: Complete the restoration with Leather Colourant.

📊 Coverage & Storage:

  • Consumption: A 50ml bottle is sufficient to restore the cracked bolsters of two car seats or a large armchair.

  • Shelf Life: 5 years (store in a cool, dry place).

💡 Expert Advice (Flexifil vs. Heavy Filler):

If you have a deep hole or a cut – use Heavy Filler. But if the leather is covered in hundreds of fine cracks (common on driver’s seats) – Flexifil is your product. It is thinner and more elastic, ensuring the repair "breathes" along with the leather.

📏 How Much Flexifil Do I Need for My Project?

Consumption depends on the density of the cracks and the surface area. Use these examples as a guide:

1. Automotive Interior 🚗

  • Steering Wheel & Gear Shifter: Approx. 15–20ml. (One 50ml bottle is enough for 2-3 steering wheels).

  • Seat Bolsters (One Seat): Approx. 25–30ml. (The most common wear zone).

  • Full Front Seat (Heavily Cracked): Approx. 50–75ml.

  • Full Interior (Front Seats only): We recommend 100ml.

2. Home Furniture 🛋️

  • Sofa Armrest: Approx. 30–50ml (depending on crack depth).

  • Single Seat Cushion: Approx. 75–100ml (if covered in fine "spider-web" cracks).

  • Full 3-Seater Sofa (Cracked areas only): We recommend 250ml for total peace of mind.

📈 Factors That Increase Consumption:

  • Crack Depth: Deeper cracks "drink up" more product during the first layer.

  • Number of Layers: It is always better to apply 2-3 fine layers than one thick one. Each layer adds to the total usage.

  • Leather Absorbency: If the leather is very dry and old, it may absorb some of the binding agent in the Flexifil during the first application.

💡 The Pro's Golden Rule:

"Always estimate 20% more product than you think you’ll need." If you have a small amount of Flexifil left over, don’t worry—it is extremely useful for small "cosmetic" fixes on shoes, bags, or belts that often crack at flex points.
