Achieve professional results with our water-based Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner. Always use it before applying a water-based wood stain. Its use guarantees a more even finish and prevents the formation of darker spots or streaks during staining.

Every piece of wood is unique, with its specific grain and knots, causing it to absorb moisture unevenly. The conditioner penetrates and seals the wood's pores, creating a uniform foundation upon which the stain can then be applied flawlessly.

Because the product is water-based, all brushes and cloths used are exceptionally easy to clean—just with warm soapy water. Furthermore, the conditioner is low-odor, VOC-free, and completely non-toxic.

To ensure full compatibility and the best results, always pair a water-based conditioner with a wood stain from the same brand. Suitable for interior and exterior use. Apply before using our interior Wood Stain or Exterior Wood Stain.

Treating with the conditioner will not alter the natural color of the wood. It is important to note, however, that the stain will dry to a slightly lighter shade compared to direct application, as the conditioner prevents the pigment from soaking too deeply into the most absorbent areas. If you still prefer a more rustic, high-contrast look, you can stain pine and other softwoods directly without pre-conditioning.

What is the Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner Suitable For?

Our Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner can be used on all types of softwoods, including pine, fir, and spruce. It is also an excellent choice for porous hardwoods, such as birch, maple, and alder, helping the stain to absorb evenly and color the wood without blotching.

Coverage and Shelf Life

• Coverage: 1 liter of the product is sufficient to cover approximately 12 sq.m.

• Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. The storage temperature should be between 8°C and 30°C.

• Shelf Life: Use within 1 year of opening.

Instructions for Use:

1. Preparation: Prepare the wood as you normally would prior to staining and ensure that all dust has been removed.

2. Application: Apply one coat of the conditioner liberally with a foam brush. Leave for five minutes, allowing the product to soak deeply into the wood.

3. Wiping off excess: Wipe off the excess with a cloth and allow the surface to dry for 30 minutes.

4. Light sanding: Lightly sand the wood with fine-grade sandpaper to smooth out any raised grain, then carefully remove all sanding dust afterwards.

5. Staining: For best results, apply the Wood Stain within one hour of the conditioner drying.
